TIPS FOR A WOMAN TO KNOW WHETHER SHE’S READY FOR A BABY – PART 1

So you think you’re ready for the bliss of motherhood? You want to have a baby; and you think it is the right time.

Planning a baby, remember, is an extra sensitive issue that is subject to a lot of influence from the people around you – especially your and his family. This will end up adding pressure to an already tough call to make.

Also remember that only you being ready won’t help, the man needs to be ready to take the plunge too. Keep in mind, you both are going to become mum and dad from hubby and wifey. It is a huge deal, isn’t it?

To make things easier, why don’t you break it into four aspects – Money, Biology, Career and Personal.questions to ask before having a baby

In this section, we’ll try to discuss the first two – Money and Biology.

MONEY

Believe it or not, having a baby is super expensive. The trips to the gynecologist, the pre-natal care, the actual delivery which takes place, provisions that have to be made for any complications that may arise, and finally the post-natal care. All this doesn’t come free; and in fact, it comes for a very high fee. Plus, keep in mind, that if you’re a working woman yourself, a maternity leave would mean that you’re not going to be working for a while now.

Do you think you have enough savings that can function as emergency funds? Do you have anything that’s already acting as a heavy drain on your existing resources – like an EMI payment for a car or house loan? Do you both (your hubby and you) have dependents to take care of? Can you anticipate any emergencies that may be coming up? Are there any other major expenses coming up; like a wedding in the family?

The worst case scenario would be the ‘Congratulations, they’re triplets!’ Remember, some day they’d all want to pay their college fees together.

About The Hubby

You needn’t worry so much about your man. Making money has always been a challenge for men. They like to provide for their families, it is something they do well.

BIOLOGY

We may have come a long long way medically speaking, but there are some things that will not change come-what-may! You are at your physical peak between the age of 18 and 32. This is the time when your body can deal with any sort of stress, and be able to recover fast. Don’t forget the important fact that having a baby is surely a physical challenge.

The biological clock isn’t a myth, it is very real. Sure, you could think of having a baby at 45. Madonna did it, so can you! But the truth of the matter is that it will be anything but a cake walk.

You’ve also got to give some serious thought to the how many children you’d want to have. Remember, that would finally sum up to how old you’d be when they first get busted for experimenting with illegal stuff. All said and done, you wouldn’t want to be dealing with that when you’re nearing your 60s.

About The Hubby

Here the issue isn’t about physical maturity as much as it is about the emotional maturity. Your body is going to be undergoing changes at this point in time. He should be understanding of your needs and be there for you when you need him.
