Stress is a kind of difficulty that causes worry. Teenage stress is a common type of stress that generally teenagers face. The only difference is the sources that cause stress. Teenagers are stressed out due to their academic issues like studies, examinations, career decisions, pressure to try drugs, ragging, admissions etc. Teenagers are young as compared to adults; they are not used to handling anxiety & pressure. Hence, it is very important for their parents to be their support system. Teenage stress may even lead to teenage depression.

Parents are the main remedy

Teenagers undergoing stressful situations may find it difficult to handle & cope up with such situations. Even many of them may not understand that they are undergoing stress. Parents play a very important role, for supporting the children when they are totally stressed out. Parents should learn to identify stressful events. They should speak to their children about their studies or other problems if any, this will give them a comfort level to share the topics that are stressful & will feel better after speaking up. Parents should also make them understand what stress is & how to deal with it! Many kids handle their situations themselves, there’s nothing wrong in that, it’s perfectly fine until its being effective. Space is a very popular demand that every teenager asks for, give space to your kids, but again if you notice changes like weight loss, insomnia or any physical ailment don’t be afraid of asking the reason for those. These are the teenage stresswarning signals of growing stress & should be taken care by treating them in appropriate time.

Treat his current stress levels

“All work & no play make jack a dull boy”, is very true. Along with his academics make him involved in some stress relieving activities. Schedule his daily time table of studies incorporated with extra curricular activities like volunteer work, sports etc. Make him learn to prioritize things in his daily routine. Encourage him in doing things of his interest that will keep him fresh & will give the feeling of doing something that he loves to do. If you feel that some activities are of least interest, cut them out from the list. If it will remain as a permanent time table after certain duration it will result in to boredom & loss of interest. Shuffle the time table along with activities, so that it won’t become a monotonous & boring routine. The basic aim under planning out the time table should be relieving his current state of stress & easing his mind.

Proper sleeping habits, less sleep will accumulate more stress. Less sleep will make the kids feel tired which will lead to lack of concentration while studying & doing home works. Whatever may be the case, encourage your kid to sleep properly, at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep daily is very important to make him feel fresh for the next day. Avoid late night studying or video game playing even for weekends. Good sleeping habits refer to quiet undisturbed sleep for whole night.

These measures will help you to prepare your child, for handling stressful situations in future. The most important thing here is to make him understand about stress & its not difficult to stressful situations. Every human being undergoes stress & it is very important to deal with such anxiety disorders to make a healthy well-being.
