BEING THE SINGLE WOMAN AT 30

So you’re at the big three-O (read: 30) and you’re still single!!! Sounds like fun, or does it? Hmmmmmm…

This could be tricky business, being single at 30 and all. You may be the only one who fits the bill. Chances are that most of your girlfriends are floating in marital bliss by this age.

Are You Like Carrie Bradshaw?

She’s the smart, successful one. She’s suave. She’s the woman who rules the streets. You’re like Carrie Bradshaw from ‘Sex And The City’. But then again, you moan “Carrie hooks up too!” (Awwwww)

The Complete Woman?

Unfortunately we live in a world where the woman’s completeness is measured by the social status of the man she being single at 30chooses. Shallow, we know! But who’s going to deny it, eh?

Family and Friends Play Cupid

This is perhaps the worst part of the deal. Almost everyone around you is trying to set you up. They’ll try to find you the prospective ‘man’ who will fit into your life so perfectly – Your Mr. Perfect. If not that, they’ll at least try to set you up on a date; regardless of however the men look or talk.

Your Friends Are Married

Since all your friends are married, the only question you’re likely to hear when you’re around them at parties and get-togethers is “So, when do we hear wedding bells?”The easiest thing to do is to ignore these questions. Well, we don’t say that it will be easy; but it’s worth it. It’s better than going out with the ‘wrong’ men.

Remember not to pitch yourself against any of them. A slight tinge of jealousy is natural; but don’t get carried away by it.

Lonely – I’m Miss Lonely

Man is but a social animal; and in all likelihood a woman is bound to get lonely without a companion. Keeping this in mind, it would be good for you to get involved with a social group of some sort; which would also serve as a good platform for you to interact with some more men *wink wink*.

Go Girlfriend

Well, we believe no one does it better than your girlfriends. Ensure that you’re in touch with all your female friends. There’s nothing that a little retail therapy and night out with the girls cannot solve. So ‘girlfriend’ therapy works the best.

Keep In Mind

  • Remember your reasons for being single. What seems more enticing? The tag of ‘being single’ or waiting for the right person?
  • Ensure that you have a support system in place that helps you. Include some more single friends into your system; and this would help you feel like you fit in, instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.
  • Enjoy your single-hood while it lasts; because when you’re married, this time will never come back. Cheers!
